The seminar is part of our seminars focusing on CCS in the North Sea region, which previously has been taken place in London and Copenhagen.
ZERO is still keeping track on the development of CCS in the region, and there will be extensive updates during the seminar.
In addition to that, we will direct our attention to the situation in Germany.
The new CCS law put forward by the German Departments of Environment and Economy will be an important part of the framework and a vital factor for the potential for CCS.
The realization of a project which also has public support, is another. The question on onshore storage of CO2 divides the country in two.
The CCS law is also part of a broader discussion and process, on the nations energy policy as a whole, called "die Energie Conzept".
Germany is going through all relevant sectors to evaluate and suggest measures on how to reduce the dependency of fossil fuels and reduce the emissions of the greenhouse gas CO2. Measures to strenghten the development of renewables and systems for energy efficiency, is important in this context - so is Carbon Capture and Storage.
The seminar will be a forum for sharing knowledge and arguments regarding the whole chain of CCS, with a certain focus on safe onshore storage. There will be room for both questions and inputs. And all stakeholders are welcome: proponents as opponents. ZEROs ambition is to contributet to a fact- and knowledge based discussion.
