ETIS

Brief description:

To enable Victoria to maximise the use of its brown coal resources for electricity generation while lessening its enviromental impact - the state accounts for 22% of Australia's GHG emissions - its government has created the Energy Technology Innovation Strategy (ETIS). This aims to develop low cost, low emissions technologies that are practical and, ultimately, available for commercial use.

In August 2010, the government allocated $30 million to sustainable energy research and development and pilot demonstration projects. This is divided into two separate grant programmes, each with up to a maximum of $5 million per project, supporting sustainable energy R&D projects and sustainable energy pilot demonstrations.
