ecoENERGY Technology Initiative

Brief description:

The ecoENERGY Technology Initiative was part of ecoAction, the Canadian government's drive for clean air and greenhouse gas emission reductions, which has now been wrapped up. However, the various initiatives it comprised are continuing.

The $230-million ecoENERGY initiative was launched in 2007 to support the development of technologies to increase Canada’s supply of clean energy, reduce energy waste and reduce the environmental impact of the production and use of conventional energy.

Eight projects were selected in response to a call for proposals issued by the Government of Canada in April of 2008. Under the scheme, up to $140 million will be invested in these projects to support industry-led research, development and demonstration of CCS technologies.
