Queensland ClimateSmart 2050

Brief description:

Queensland's government launched its $844 million ClimateSmart 2050 strategy in 2007. This contained several Smart Energy Policy initiatives to help the state meet its defined climate change goals. The strategy aimed to encourage the energy sector to invest in new technologies and maximise energy conservation in the state's businesses and homes, and included $900 million investment in demonstrating clean coal technology.

An update report in June 2010 showed that, of its three main climate change strategies (ClimateQ: toward a greener Queensland; ClimateSmart 2050; and ClimateSmart Adaptation Plan 2007-2012) 109 out of 124 projects had either been completed or were under way.

These strategies appear to have been superceded.
