Shengli oilfield
Sinopec has begun to expand CO2 capture capacity at its Shengli power plant in Dongying, near the Shengli oilfield in Shangdong province. An integrated pilot plant currently captures 0.04 million tonnes per annum of CO2 for EOR projects, and a second phase would increase post-combustion capture capacity to 1Mtpa. The company is conducting various research programmes which will feed results into Phase II, which is expected online in 2014.
The captured CO2 will be transported by pipeline for use in EOR at an operating oilfield in the province, for which a commercial deal has already been agreed. A final investment decision is expected in 2011.
