Sargas had plans to build a 400MW coal-fired power plant with post-combustion CO2 capture at Husnes, Hordaland, in partnership with Tinfos, Sør-Norge Aluminium and Eramet Norway. The captured CO2 would be used in enhanced oil recovery projects at North Sea oilfields. The project planned to capture 2.6 million tonnes of CO2 per year.
Notification of the project was sent to the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate for consultation in 2008 prior to any licence application being made. No further details or progress reports are available.
