Brief description:

Natural Resources Canada is a government agency with responsibility for the nation's natural resources, energy, minerals and metals, forests, earth sciences, mapping and remote sensing. It was created in 1995 from the amalgamation of the ministeries of energy, mines and resources and forestry. It develops policies and programmes that seek to ensure the responsible development and use of Canada’s natural resources, and maintains a knowledgebase of Canada's landmass. The agency represents Canada at international level regarding global commitments to sustainable development of natural resources.
