Brief description:
The French Environment and Energy Management Agency (ADEME) exists to coordinate and support initiatives which attempt to manage energy needs in ways that protect the environment. It is a public agency under the joint supervision of the French ministries for ecology, sustainable development, transportation and housing and for higher education and research. Its 820 employees focus mainly on operations that deal with energy, air, noise, transport, waste, polluted soil and sites, and environmental management. In 2009, it had a budget of €638 million, of which €557m was for funding provision.
