SINTEF is the largest independent research agency in Scandinavia. Based in Trondheim, it has around 2000 employees in offices across Norway and in Denmark, the US, Brazil and Macedonia. Its aim is to conduct research and development that contributes to a worldwide knowledge base and the sustainable development of society. Its key areas of R&D are technology, medicine, and natural and social sciences. It supports around 2000 projects annually.
